How to get your ex back—without pretending you control the outcome.
You can improve how you show up. You cannot guarantee another person will return. A credible reconciliation plan starts by separating what you can change from what only your ex can choose.
1. Stop making the breakup worse
Repeated pleading, argument loops and constant checking can turn pain into pressure. Stabilize first.
2. Understand why it ended
“We fought a lot” is a symptom, not necessarily a cause. Look for recurring issues such as trust, communication, incompatible expectations, distance, resentment or unmet needs.
3. Decide whether contact is appropriate
Respect explicit boundaries. If contact is welcome or reasonably open, start small rather than demanding an immediate relationship decision.
4. Look for reciprocity
Healthy reconnection becomes increasingly mutual: both people initiate, ask questions, make time and discuss what would need to change.
5. Rebuild the relationship, not just access to the person
Getting a reply is not the finish line. If the underlying dynamic remains unchanged, the same problems can return.
