Reconciliation decision

Should you get back together with your ex?

Missing someone and being compatible with them are different questions. Before restarting a relationship, examine what would actually be different this time.

Ask what ended the relationship

Was the breakup driven by a temporary circumstance, a solvable pattern, or a fundamental incompatibility? Reconciliation is more credible when both people can name the problem rather than simply wanting the pain to stop.

Ask what changed

Time apart alone does not repair trust, communication or behavior. Look for specific changes that can be observed and maintained.

Ask whether the desire is mutual

A second attempt requires two participants. Persistent persuasion is not a substitute for willingness.

Safety overrides nostalgia

If the relationship involved abuse, threats, stalking, coercive control or fear, do not use this site’s reconnection pathways as a plan to resume the relationship. Seek appropriate local support.
